Being a part of the community also gives our longer-term retailers a home away from home in our friendly, accommodating neighbourhood.

Nibbling

An impressive encounter for first-time parents

Living nearby, mum of three Emily Sunderland knows just how important it is to have a children’s shop that has something for every child, with brands you won’t particularly find in other children’s shops. Emily believes that the neighbourhood is always wondrously busy, established, and a very luxurious street for retail. Local people often become customers when on the school run, popping in after they have dropped their children at school after seeing the fabulous eye-catching window displays.

With recent circumstances, many became first-time parents in lockdown, and for a lot of them, Nibbling has been their first experience of shopping for their child in a physical store. Outfits are a hit here, and clothing ranges from 0-12 years, mostly purchased by grandparents as gifts for their grandchildren.

Green & Stone

An old school charm with a modern touch

Green & Stone was founded in 1927, mostly living on Kings Road for over 90 years, before moving into a newer, larger space on the Fulham Road in 2019 both at the heart of a vibrant artistic community. The uniqueness Green & Stone brings to the estate is much more than paint and paper, it’s highly unlikely you could purchase the enormous selection of high-quality, creative resources and materials anywhere else, all in one place.

They sell their special materials to talented designers and artists, and Edward, who works there, says oil paint is a popular product at the moment, with plenty of keen artists in Chelsea purchasing their products. The additional art gallery often showcases customers’ work, and the friendly atmosphere is one not to miss if you’re looking for an independent shopping experience with a traditional touch.

Colette

The fine dining experience you can enjoy at home

Dimitris Karafotias, general manager of Colette says the feedback from customers is fantastic. The locals have become regulars, and they have all fallen in love with the concept of Colette – one where you can indulge in the experience of premium restaurant-quality food, in the comfort of your own home.

With a team of talented chefs downstairs making fresh food daily, a special selection of hand-picked French wines and delicious teas, this is a fine delicatessen experience not to be missed. Ready-made hampers are popular at the moment, and the extraordinary offering of luxury picnic hampers are in high demand – especially the afternoon tea option.

Colette took considerable thought into selecting the Sloane Stanley estate as their location, and it’s incredible attention to detail and offering or premium products that you would otherwise only find in the culturally impressive shops in the heart of Paris is what encourages locals to shop there.

Love My Human

Something for every aspect of a dog’s life

Jenny Matthews wanted to create something special for dog owners when she created Love My Human, after seeing a gap in the market for well-made products for dogs that are also well priced.

From care products, delicious treats, beds and more, everything you desire for your pet is available at Love My Human. Jenny has always loved this end of Kings Road, due to the enticing independent shops available. It soon became her favourite shopping experience as a consumer, and would often shop in the area. She believes that the Sloane Stanley estate is for the discerning shopper, and there is soul and personality behind every store.

There is a smile on everyone’s face as soon as they walk through the door at Love My Human, and some dogs will even often pull their owners into the store with the scent of treats under their noses. Puppy grooming is popular here, because the team at Love My Human treat all dogs as if they are their own pets – full of love and gentle care. They even have lovely suede toys that mimic shoes, which means no more chewing their owners most loved footwear!

Gong Lighting

An illusion of magic as soon as you step foot inside

Opening in December last year and starting 20 years ago, Gong Lighting specialises in unique lighting and other products, mainly selling to wholesalers, retailers, restaurants, architects and more.

Jo Plismy, the talent behind the store expresses that this patch of London is different to the rest. Jo believes that there is more of a design and architecture feel here compared to other areas where they have set up shop. Offering plenty of styles of lighting, from affordable to more luxurious, there is lighting option to brighten anyone’s hearts and home – some you won’t find unless you are shopping exclusively at Gong.

While she hasn’t been here long, Jo senses a welcoming feeling of community, already meeting many of her fellow estate neighbours with some becoming regular customers of Gong themselves! The silk collection is unusual and beautiful, giving customers a moment of wonder and magic as soon as they step foot inside the store. The different colours, materials and techniques are what sets Gong apart from many other lighting designers.

White Coco and Libby Blakey Designs

A collaboration that transformed dress-up

A clever collaboration from Libby Blakey and White Coco brought them to the Sloane Stanley estate. The combination of ladies clothes and beautiful home interior accessories makes this shop stand out from traditional women’s clothing stores.

Almost all home products are sourced locally in the UK, with the objective to support smaller independents and designers. If you love the idea of handmade, hand-painted and hand-picked products, this shop is the perfect destination, also selling sporadic collections created by incredible artists.

Numerous events occur here, including jewellery workshops and dress-up events of both clothing and tableware. Many have complimented the store for its bright and vibrant interior, and the colourful products often do the talking. Libby feels that strong relationships have been formed due to the ongoing help and support of Sloane Stanley.
