A word from the artist
“The ‘Stay Loving 2020 Chelsea Fire station mural started life as fantasy reimagining of the Kings Road tracing it’s past as the host of the “Arts & Crafts Movement.” I started work on the mural the first week of March 2020. Things took an interesting turn as we went into the pandemic. A decision was reached to mothball the mural project. I had one day to decide what to do. A thought came to me that the easiest and most effective way to mothball and keep the mural alive was with giant text. ‘STAY SAFE – STAY LOVING’ was born. I consulted Sarah Ferruggia and she agreed.
I came back to the mural when the first lock down was relaxed slightly and I continued work. We felt a slightly optimistic tone was needed. I went for a hopeful sunrise influenced by one of Chelsea famous artic residents JMW Turner”.
